Reading, Mass. , September 19, 1949
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at ,
9:30 P.M.
Chairman Calvin, Messrs . Harrison, Putnam, Walker and Super-
intendent Welch were present.
Mr. Walker acted as Secretary.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Voted to remove all restrictions on the use of water but to
caution the public not to waste water pr it may be necessary to
reimpose restrictions.
Received letter from Town Counsel, stating that present
regulation relative to house connections being connected to plumbing
is improperly drawn and consequently illegal.
Hearing at 8:00 P .M: on proposed sewer extension in Mineral '
Street from Summer Avenue to Prospect Street.
Following persons present:
Mr. Lewis Gilman In favor
Mr. Lyman Carlow In favor
Mr. H. D. Ames In favor
Mr. Ernest Tozier In favor
Voted to approve extension of sewer in Mineral Street from
Summer Avenue to Prospect Street.
Hearfng at 8:30 P.M. on proposed sewer extension in Gould St.
from present dead end to No. 16.
Following persons present:
Mr. Norman Harlow In favor
Voted to approve extension of sewer in Gould St. from the ,
present dead end to No. 16.
Received letter from Mary Green, 126 High St. requesting
that sewer frontage assessment placed in 1948 be abated.

Board will investigate. -
Received letter from W. H. Keel, 27 West Hill Circle request-
ing Board to survey conditions adjacent to his property particularly
in relation to the high bank on the westerly side.
Voted to write Mr. Reel that bank as existing was built as
part of street and is satisfactory to Board.
Voted to extend storm drain through land of Court on Pearl
Street about 80 feet and to place only enough filling to cover pipe.
Mr. Coles, representative of the Esso Co. , conferred with
Board relative to the purchase of gasoline and motor oils.
Board adjourned at 10:15 P.M.
