HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-08-29 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , August 29, 1949 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Chairman Calvin, Messrs. Donahue, Harrison, Walker, and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Voted following pole location: Forest Street - South Side - Pole 26/16 - moved 21 feet westerly. It was moved, seconded, and voted that the landscaping sub- contractor at the new Eaton primary school be denied the use of water for watering shrubs and newly planted grass seed . It was moved, seconded and voted that the Meadowbrook Golf Club be allowed to thoroughly water putting greens one night each week and to hand water putting greens otherwise as needed. The permission applies only to putting greens . Temporarily adjourned at 8:30 P.M- to meet at Board of Survey. Reconvened at 9:00 P.M. Superintendent reported that he is to meet with Mr. Paul ' Howard of Whitman and Howard, Consulting Engineers on Thursday, September 1, 1949, relative to estimate of the cost of a general survey of the water facilities. Following Granolithic Sidewalk applications received, approved and placed on file: Gertrude Donnelly 148 Bancroft Avenue Alice Anderson 55 Springvale Road Ace Art Co. 32 Gould Street Ronald Brown 150 Pleasant Street Following Granite Curb applications received, approved, and placed on file: Gertrude Donnelly 148 Bancroft Avenue Ronald Brown 150 Pleasant Street `1.58 Superintendent reported that after completion of present list of approved sewer installations funds would be available for other , sewer projects . Voted to instruct Superintendent to make surveys, prepare plans and arrange hearings for projects for which applications are now on file in the order in which they were filed. Received petition from several abuttors on Pine Ridge Road requesting that a section of Pine Ridge Road from the end of the present public way to Ste. 23 + 97.70 be accepted as a public way. Placed on file. Voted to authorize the members of the Board and the Super- intendent to attend, expenses paid, the Annual Convention of the New England Water Works Association, which is to be held September 13, 1949, to September 16, 1949, both dates inclusive, at Dixville , Notch, New Hampshire.
