HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-08-22 Board of Public Works Minutes 15� Reading, Mass. , August 22, 1949 • The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Chairman, Calvin, Messrs . Harrison, Putnam, Walker, and Superintendent Welch were present. Messrs. Wilfred Kelley, Walter Rydeard, Clarence Cole and Homer Richards, all of Fairview Avenue conferred with Board relative to sewer rental charges in cases where house connection has been installed to the house but where plumbing has not been attached to the house connection. Voted to continue in effect the present regulations relative to sewer rentals, but to, upon application of the owner, abate charges in cases where it is known that the plumbing is not actually ' attached to the house connection. - Mr. Kenneth Ranson, 419 Haverhill Street, conferred with Board requesting that a drainage ditch be dug across his property easterly of Haverhill Street and southerly from his house. Voted to make survey, obtain easement and dig ditch when funds permit. Mr. Arthur Lodge, 4 Barrows Road, conferred with Board requesting that all tree lawns on Barrows Road westerly from Lowell Street be reloamed and seeded. Voted to reloam and seed tree lawns as requested. Signed commitment sheet listing house connection charges to date to be committed to the Assessors ' , a copy of which is attached hereto and herewith becomes a part of these records . Following Granolithic Sidewalk application received, approved and placed on file: George Rushton 114 Ash Street 156 _-- Discussed water supply problems at length. Voted to obtain estimate for making a survey of possible sources ' of supply from Whitman and Howard, Consulting Engineers, Boston, Mass. Board adjourned at 10: 1$ P .M.
