Reading, Mass. , June 20, 1949
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Chairman Calvin, Messrs . Donahue, Harrison, Putnam, Walker
and Superintendent Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Discussed conditions at Town Dump.
At 8:00 P.M. , bids were publicly opened and read for a sewer
extension in Fairview Avenue and Summer Avenue approximately 1814
feet in length.

Interviewed representatives of the six low bidders relative
to work they are doing, equipment owned, amount of largest contract, etc.
Temporarily adjourned at 8:45 P.M. to meet as Board of Survey.
Mr. Dominick Zanni conferred with Board at length relative to
conditions at the Town Dump, especially odors.
Voted to order Superintendent to truck filling from Lowell
Street Chapter 90 and from sidewalk construction to the Dump until
there is sufficient fill to cover accumulated debris.

Voted to instruct dump caretaker not to light fires until late
1 in the year.
Voted to award contract for the extension of the sewer in
Fairview Avenue and Summer Avenue to the Continental Construction
Company, 6 Pleasant Street, Malden, Mass. , as per their submitted
bid.
Board adjourned at 11:00 P.M.
