HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-05-23 Board of Public Works Minutes 142 Reading, Mass. , May 23, 1949 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at , 7:30 P.M. Chairman Calvin, Messrs. Donahue, Harrison, Putnam, Walker and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved as corrected. Will be retyped for signature. Received letter from Frank Elwell, Jr. , 3 Indiana Avenue, requesting that the water service to his home be replaced with new pipe. Board agreed to do job as soon as possible. Received letter from Mrs. Viola Woodward, 60 Highland St. , thanking the Board for use of Common by Mt. Holyoke Alumnae Committee. Received letter from Mr. Ernest Brown, 76 Pearl Street, Mr. , Clifford Wadman, 66 Pearl Street, and Mr. Wesley Thomas , Jr. , 61 Harrison Street, requesting that several items of work be performed at Memorial Park. Board agreed to do following items: 1. Fix Faucet 2. Trim Walks 3: Check on Willow Trees 44 Fix up horse-shoe courts for day use - no lights. Considered proposal for trench hoe attachment. Voted to advertise for bids in Reading Chronicle, Boston Globe and Boston Herald. Considered plan submitted by Carleton & Gray for driveway locations at Garage and Show Room on Minot Street. Tentatively approved plan as amended. Two corrected plans to be submitted by Carleton & Gray. 143 Considered buying machinery breakdown insurance for Hundred ' Acre Meadow Pumping Station.
