HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-05-09 Board of Public Works Minutes 138 Reading, Mass., May 9, 1949 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at ' 7:30 P.M. Chairman Calvin, Messrs. Donahue, Putnam, Walker and Super- intendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Voted to hold Board Meetings on May 23, June 6, and June 20, 1949. Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on proposed sewer in Fairview Avenue from Pratt St. to Summer Ave. and in Summer Ave. from Fairview Ave. to Oak Street. Neil Mills In favor Voted to install sewer as proposed. _ Following Granolithic Sidewalk application received, approved and placed on file: 139: Edward Emslie 252 Charles Street Received letter from Ralph Hall, Inc. stating that due to con- ditions in the junk market they are not interested in removing the old equipment from the Mill Street Pumping Station. Received petition from Lyman Carlow requesting a sewer exten- sion in Mineral Street from Summer Avenue to Prospect Street. Placed on file. Voted to lay Granolithic Sidewalk on the South side of Salem Street from Lowell Street to Main Street. Voted to buy Two (2) Five-ton Sterling Trucks as per the bid of the Sterling Motors Corp. received April 25, 1949. Received petition from a large number of people living in the general vicinity of Memorial Park reauesting that the Park be developed by filling, grading, loaming, seeding, tree planting, installing benches, etc. Placed on file pending investigation and financing.
