HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-05-02 Board of Public Works Minutes 136. Reading, Mass. , May 2, 1949 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at , 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Donahue, Harrison, Walker and Superintendent Welch were present. Mr. Donahue acted as chairman. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Mr. John O'Neill conferred with Board relative to drainage ditch which passes through land owned by him on the southerly side of Hartshorn St. Temporarily adjourned at 8:00 P.M. to meet as Board of Survey. Reconvened at 9:00 P.M- Following Granolithic Sidewalk applications received, approved and placed on file: , Lawrence Cate 264 Charles Street George Dinkel 11 Prospect Street Albert Summerfield 85 Grand Street Following Granite Curb applications received, approved, and placed on file: Thomas Carter 25 Auburn Street Voted permission to School Committee to install drain to connect roof water drains to public storm drain in Oak Street at the new school location at the corner of Summer Avenue and Oak St. Voted to abate the sum of Ten Dollars on the July, 1948, water bill of Maynard Norwood, 16 Chute Street Received letter from Harry Turner, 17 Highland Street, request- ing abatement on his January, 1949 water bill. Voted not to abate anything on this bill since the amount of the bill is practically the same as his previous three January bills. . I &T Voted to purchase two Ford Two Ton Trucks from Carleton and Gray at the bid price of $3,619.70 which also includes remounting a compressor, a body, and a storage box. Voted to buy a standard business coupe from the Laing Chevrolet Co. at the bid price of $1,309.60. Board adjourned at 9: 50 P.M. Respectfully submitted: (Signed) Coleman J. Donahue Secretary
