HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-04-25 Board of Public Works Minutes 134 Reading, Mass. , April 25, 1949 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at I 7:30 P.M. Chairman Calvin, Messrs. Donahue, Harrison, Putnam, Walker and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Received letter from Y.M.C.A. requesting use of Birch Meadow Playground on various Saturday mornings. Voted permission but excluding the use of three tennis courts. Opened and read bids on two ton trucks and five ton trucks at 8:00 P.M. A listing of the bids is attached hereto and herewith becomes a part of these records. Temporarily adjourned at 8:00 P.M. to meet as Board of Survey. Reconvened at 8:45 P.M. Hearing at 8:45 P.M. on proposed extension of sewer in John St. and Haven St. Refer to Plan 206. Following persons present: Mr. L. S. Williams In favor Mr. Warren Beaman In favor Mr. Alexander Osowick In favor Mr. Douglas Lincoln In favor Mr. John Marshall In favor Voted to make extension as per the plan. Signed Orders of Takings for the following new betterment streets voted at the Town Meeting: Plymouth Road Barrows Road John Carver Road Dustin Road Fielding Road ,Conferred with Selectmen at 9:30 P.M. relative to the follow- ing matters: 1. The possibility of building a road between the two river water holes in the Town Forest. This Department will investigate. 2. General Drainage Problems throughout th4-Town caused by new construction. This refers to problems not under the control of the Board of Survey. Only answer seems to be to make takings for all ditches, brooks, etc. 3. Relocation of present driveway to the rear of the Town Building which is to be eliminated by the addition to the Library. Board agreed to make a survey. 4.
