HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-02-14 Board of Public Works Minutes 120 \ Reading, Mass. , February 14, 1949 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Chairman Putnam, Messrs. Webb, Calvin, Donahue, and Super- intendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Mr. Allen Sturges conferred with Board relative to charges for water main extensions and also relative to proposed gift of land abutting South Street for playground purposes. Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on proposed acceptance of Indiana Avenue from Sta. 0 + 00 to Sta. 6 + 15.63 as a public way. Refer to Plan A-5-18. Following persons present: George Elbaum In favor Rose Elbaum In favor Mildred Barton In favor Richard Winton In favor Lewis Hamlin In favor Ernest Arsenault Not in favor Daniel Mullen, Jr. In favor Albert Woodward In favor Elizabeth Hardy In favor Frank Hardy In favor By letter, Mr. Winton was authorized to represent the Hayward-Cushman Co. Hearing at 8:30 P.M. on proposed acceptance of a portion of John Carver Road from Sta. 9 + 77.19 to Sta. 11 + 45 as a public way. Refer to Plan A-6-27. Voted to recommend to the Town the acceptance of a portion of John Carver Road as described above. Signed reports for use at Town Meeting for Indiana Avenue and John Carver Road. Following Granolithic Sidewalk application received, approved, and placed on file: Joseph Raftery 93 Harnden Street Considered Articles for Town Meeting Warrant. Approved Articles as prepared. Received petition from several abutters repuesting that a portion of Parkman Road be accepted as a public way. Placed on file. / Superintendent reported to Board that entry for construc- tion purposes was made on Curtis Street and George Street on Thursday, February 9, 1949. It was moved, seconded and voted to reconsider the following motion which was made, seconded, and voted on January 14, 1949: "Voted to apply new charges for water main extensions and services which have not been installed and in use by March 1, 1949, regardless of the date that the appli- cation was filed."
