HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-01-31 Board of Public Works Minutes 14 6 Reading, Mass. , January 31, 1949 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at , 7:30 P.M. Chairman Putnam, Messrs . Webb and Calvin and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Received notice from Selectmen that Articles for the Warrant must be filed by February 14, 1949. Received a letter from Mr. George Crouse, 21 Bond St. , rela- tive to a bill he received for extras incurred during the construc- tion of the granolithic sidewalk abutting his property. Voted to abate the sum of $40.00 on this bill. Received a letter from N.B.A. to the effect that their February meeting has been changed from the 16th to the 23rd. Hearing on the acceptance of Dustin Rd. , from Lowell St. to Bradford Rd. , as a public way - Refer to Plan A-13-61. Following persons present: Robert Lyle Therese Hazard Antoinette Krawczyk Charles Oberlander Margaret Jones Ruth Lyle Kenneth Hazard Marion Mack Raymond Mack After a lengthy discussion it was agreed to investigate to see if a new grade can be established which would reduce the cost of construction. Hearing at 8:30 P.M. on acceptance of Willard Rd. , from Main St. to Pearl St. , as a public way. Refer to Plan A-5-4. Small, Jr. In favor R. N. Meacom In favor Voted to recommend acceptance to Town Meeting. Signed report of acceptance to be presented to Town Meeting. Voted to raise estimated cost of Granolithic Sidewalks from $0.80 per foot to $1..10 per foot for all subsequent applications . Received letter from Clifton Turner in relation to the bill he received for connecting his house at 16 Eaton St. with the common sewer. Voted to abate the sum of $53.28.
