HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-01-14 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , January 14, 1949 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Chairman Putnam, Messrs. Webb, Calvin, Donahue, and Superin- tendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Following Granolithic Sidewalk application received, approved and placed on file: Harley Nelson 60 Bancroft Ave. Mr. Calvin presented a resolution to be sent to Mrs. Lindsay extending the sympathy,of the Board for the death of her husband, - Mr. Alex Lindsay. Voted to apply new charges for water main extensions and water services to all extensions and services which have not been installed and in use by March 1, 1949, regardless of the date that the application was filed. Considered at length, possible amendments to the Classifica- tion Committee Report. Voted to offer the following amendments: Unskilled Labor - Hourly maximum raised from $1.06 to $1.08 Assistant to Superintendent - Weekly maximum raised from $61.23 to $70.00 Transit, Rodman, Draftsman - Hourly maximum raised from $44.97 to $53.11 Foreman - Weekly maximum raised from $75.00 to $77.40 Section 10 - Overtime - Amend to pay for all time credited to employee regardless of reason for credit instead of only hours actually worked. Sections 8 & 14 - Classifications of New positions and appeals - amend so that matters can be taken to any Town Meeting instead of only Annual Town Meeting. 112 Section 11 - Holidays - Amend so that overtime pay will apply after expiration of normal regular work day.
