Reading, Mass. , January 7, 1949
' The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Chairman Putnam, Messrs. Calvin, Donahue, Webb and Superin-
tendent Welch were present.
Due to the death of the Secretary, Mr. Alex Lindsay, it
was necessary to elect a new secretary.
Mr. Webb was nominated and elected Secretary.
Records of the previous meeting3were read and approved.
Voted to make entry for the purpose of constructing Curtis
St. and George St. as approved by the Town Meeting of March, 1947.
Discussed in detail the recently released report of the
Classification Committee.
The following employees conferred with the Board:
Mr. Chester Putnam Mr. Harold Abbott, Mr. Ernest Watson
and Mr. James Putnam. Whey expressed to the Board their
dissatisfaction with the classification salary limits as
proposed in the Classification Committee Report.
Voted to hold meetings of the Board on January 14, January
241 January 31, February 7, and February 14.
Voted pole location as follows:
John St. - existing pole 47/27 .moved 4 feet easterly
Voted to prepare a resolution of regrets and to send it to
Mrs . Alexander Lindsay.
Mr. Calvin offered to prepare the resolution.
Following Sidewalk application received, approved, and
placed on file:
Raymond Strassell 13 Smith Avenue
Signed 1948 Chapter 90 Maintenance Statement of Expenditures.

Received petition from certain abuttors requesting that Dustin
Road westerly from Lowell Street be accepted as a public way. '
Voted to prepare plan and hold hearing.
Received petition from certain abuttors requesting that
Plymouth Road westerly from Lowell St. be accepted as a public way.
Voted to prepare plan and hold hearing.
Received petition from certain abuttors requesting that
Willard Road from Main St. to Pearl St. be accepted as a public way.
Received letter from Donald McLean, 70 Pine Ridge Road, request-
ing that a ditch in the rear of his house be piped.
Agreed that work should and will be done pending the availa-
bility of funds.
Board adjourned at 11:45 P.M.
