HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-02-02 Board of Public Works Minutes 42 Reading, Mass. , February 2, 1948 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at , 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Putnam, Lindsay, Webb and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Received resolution from Finance Committee authorizing expenditures for snow and ice removal as per Chapter 5 of the Acts of 1948. Conferred with Planning Board relative to proposed land- scaping of Reading Common. Agreed to request Finance Committee to increase Park Dept. •Budget $1,000 to do job in part. Voted to redraft plans for Garage Extension to eliminate all possible details and to take new bids on stripped down plan. Hearing at 8:15 P.M. on proposed drain and sewer easement from Nichols Road to Prescott Street thru lands of Simms, Corks, Batting and Willis. Following persons present: Ruby Willis In favor Frances Batting In favor Irene Corke In favor Harold Corke In favor Hearing at 8:30 P .M• on proposed acceptance of Nichols (Private) Road as a public way from Summer Avenue easterly approximately 332 feet. Following persons present: Irene Corke Harold Corke Henry Porter William Saylor After some discussion the hearing was postponed until Monday, February 16, 1948 at 7:45 P.M. 43 Received letter from Selectmen relative to the usage of the funds contained in the trust established in the will of the late Dr. Grant. It was suggested that a conference be held relative to this matter. Conferred at length with Finance Committee on 1948 Budget. At request of Finance Committee the 1948 Budget was reconsidered. It was agreed no cuts should be made. Voted to hold next meeting of Board on Monday, February 16, 1948.
