Putnam, Lindsay, Webb, and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved as corrected. Voted to renuest the following funds at the Special Town Meeting of December 22, 1947. Snow and Ice - $8,000.00 transfer subject to revision before the Town Meeting Water Dept. - 15,000.00 Bond Issue Sewer Dept. - 65,000.00 Bond Issue Signed Gas Main Location Plans for Winslow Road and part of Wakefield Street near Charles St. ISigned statement of Chapter 90 Maint. expenditures for 1947 for submission to State Dept. of Public Works. Voted to close the office on Saturday mornings and to keep open Wednesday afternoons beginning January 3, 1948. Voted to establish the following Office Hours - Monday through Friday - 8:30 A.M. to 12 noon - 1:00 P.M- to 5:00 P.M. beginning January 3, 1948. This is for clerical employees only. Received written opinions from Town Counsel as follows: A. Payment to employees of difference between weekly salary and amount of Workmen's Compensation is not legal. B. Control by Board of the installation of municipal utilities in private ways. Board requests further information on this matter. Considered possibility of regrading a section of South Street East of Main St. for drainage purposes. Voted to hold hearing on proposed grade change. Voted to allow a one-half day holiday to all employees the afternoon of the day before Christmas. Considered 1948 Budget in detail. It will be submitted to Finance Committee as corrected. Voted to hold next meeting December 29, 1947.
