Reading, Mass. , December 1, 1947
CThe regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Chairman Putnam, Messrs. Lindsay, Webb, and Superintendent
Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Mr. Alfred Rooney conferred with Board relative to drainage
conditions at the corner of Glen Road and Summer Avenue.
Board will investigate.
Messrs. Swain and Harris conferred with Board relative to
drainage conditions on South Street near the Wakefield Town Line.
Voted to allow Jesse Perry a sick leave of four weeks for
1947•
Received letter from Selectmen requesting Board to include
in 1948 Budget a storm drain from Sanborn Street into the Parking
Area.
Voted to do so.
Received letter from Finance Committee approving transfer
of $2, 500 from Reserve Fund to Water Dep,rtment expenses .
Following Granolithic Sidewalk Applications received,
approved, and placed on file:
Roger Nichols 61 Harrison Street
Conferred with other Departments at a joint meeting in
relation to office hours, holidays, basic work week, etc.
Agreement was reached on the following:
A. Traders ' Day and June 17 will not be holidays hereafter.
B. All other legal holidays, either State and Federal,
will be observed.
C. The Departments in the Town Building agreed to close on
Saturday mornings , and to keep open on Wednesday after-
noons, starting January 1, 1948.
