HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-11-03 Board of Public Works Minutes za Reading, Mass. , November 3, 1947 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Chairman Putnam, Messrs, Lindsay, Smith, Webb, and Superin- tendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Voted following pole locations : West Street - Pole 98/57 moved 34' northerly Pole 98/58 to be abandoned Woodward Ave- Pole 110/2 moved 5' westerly Main Street - Pole 54/172 moved 18' northerly Following Granolithic Sidewalk Applications received, approved, and placed on file: Iris Lincoln 335 Haven Street Carmen Simon 75 Linden Street Considered proposed driveway layout for new Gasoline Station at Northeast Corner of Main and Franklin Streets . Voted to approve layout if island on corner is enlarged from 10 feet to 25 feet. Signed 1947 Chapter 90 Construction Contracts. Hearing at 7:45 P .M. on proposed sewer extension in Summer Avenue from Prescott Street easterly to No. 271. Following persons present: Edwin Hedges Not in favor Isabelle Hedges Not in favor Mary Howe In favor Windsor Howe In favor Voted to install proposed sewer. Received letter from Lewis E. Gilman, 119 Summer Avenue, requesting sewer in Summer Ave. be extended to his property. Placed on file for future action. 29 Mr. Charles Nickerson, 16 Lakeview Avenue, complained to Board relative to an incident at the Town Dump in which he and a certain Mr. Stark were embroiled in a fight over a mattress. During the melee both had their glasses broken. Superintendent Welch authorized to take steps to prevent future incidents of a similar nature. Voted to hold next meeting of Board November 17, 194'7.
