HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-09-08 Board of Public Works Minutes 21 Reading, Mass. , September 8, 1947 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Chairman Putnam, Messrs. Smith, Davis, Lindsay, Webb, and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Report was made by Superintendent to the effect that because of legal technicalities it is necessary to postpone receiving bids for the Garage Extension until September 22, 1947, at 8:00 P.M. Voted to abate $4.00 on April, 1947, water bill of C. F. Elden, 23 Priscilla Road. Received letter from Arthur Curtis Co. of Revere quoting price on hot air heating system for Garage and Extension. Voted to hold preliminary hearing on proposed Burhoe development on West side of West Street, opposite King Street at 8:45 P.M. on September 22, 1947. Received petition from several abuttors on Barrows Road requesting that a section of Barrows Road between Lowell Street and Bradford Road be accepted as a public way. Placed on file. Following Granolithic Sidewalk application received, approved and placed on file: Frank Kean 31 Hillcrest Road Voted to request Selectmen to hold a Special Town Meeting as funds are needed for the Water and Sewer Departments . Conferred with the Classification Committee at length. Discussed various details of classifications and salaries. 22 Agreed to prepare rough outlines of classifications and salaries to submit to said committee.
