Reading, Mass. , August 18, 1947
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Chairman Putnam, Messrs. Davis, Lindsay, Webb, and Superin-
tendent Welch were present.
Following Granolithic Sidewalk Applications received, approved
and placed on file:
Cyril Hart 29 Wescroft Road
Edith Platt 9 Smith Avenue
Messrs. Nesmith, Morrow and McSheehy conferred with Board
relative to vacations for various classifications of employees.
Voted to post copies of rules and regulations on Bulletin
Board and to furnish extra copies for employees.
Received petition from a large group of citizens on Track `
Road, Norman Road, and Harvest Road requesting that the present
water mains be replaced by larger mains.
Superintendent instructed to prepare an estimate of the

cost of replacing all 11" mains with larger sized mains.
Superintendent instructed to prepare an estimate of the cost
of installing sewers in all streets where a serious cesspool con-
dition exists.
Voted to allot $50.00 from Park Department funds for the
purchase of prizes to be awarded to winners of Field Day Events.
Reconsidered request of Carl E. Anderson, 362 Summer Avenue,
for a further abatement on his past water bills.
Voted not to grant any further abatements.
Conferred with Town Counsel relating to performance bond
required by Board of Survey Rules. Bond can be either a Surety
Co. Bond or a personal bond with a co-signer.
