Reading, Mass. , June 9, 1947
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Davis, Lindsay, Putnam, Smith, Webb, and Superin-
tendent Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Following Granite Curb Applications received, approved, and
placed on file:
Samuel Hodges 10 California Road
Mr. W. H. Howe, 271 Summer Avenue, conferred with Board
relative to extension of sewer in Summer Avenue to his property.
Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on proposed drain easement through
lands of Herrick and Jackson at the Southeast corner of Summer
Avenue and Main Street.
Following persons present:
Mr. Wm. Herrick Mr. Charles Jackson
Mrs. Charles Jackson
All are in favor providing easement relocated slightly to
preserve a 20" elm tree.
Signed Order of Taking for above proposed drain easement.
A delegation of several home owners conferred with Board
in relation to drainage conditions in the rear of houses on Oak
St. and Scotland Road. They were notified that Board proposes
starting this project in 1947.
Signed 1947 Chapter 90 Maint. Contracts.
Hearing at 8:30 P.M. on proposed drain easement through
lands of McSheehy and Meyse at the intersection of Winter Street
and Orange Street.
Following persons present:
Mr. George M. McSheehy In favor
Mr. Dennis Meuse In favor
Signed Order of Taking for above proposed drain easement.
Ballots were cast for the election of a chairman.
The result was as follows:
Mr. Putnam three votes
Mr. Davis two votes
Ballots were cast for the election of a secretary.
The result was as follows:
Mr. Smith four votes
Mr. Lindsay one vote
Voted to reappoint Mr. Philip Welch as Superintendent.
It was moved, seconded and voted to reconsider the vote
of May 26, 1947, relative to the purchase of a trailer.
It was moved, seconded, and voted to purchase a LaCrosse
trailer from the Sandberg Equipment Co. , as per the bid submitted
by them on April 28, 1947.
Board adjourned at 9:30 P.M.
