Reading, Mass. , May 26, 1947
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Lindsay, Putnam, Smith, Webb, and Superintendent
Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Mr. Lindsay acted as chairman.
Voted to furnish two trucks with drivers Memorial Day
morning to transfer baskets of flowers from florists to cemetery.
Hearing at 7:45 P.M. on proposed drain easement off Pine
Ridge Road between Lots 41 and 42 and in the rear of Lot 42
(Refer to Plan A-10-101)
No one present.
Voted to make taking.
Received petition for sewer extension in Linden Street from
Mt. Vernon St. to No. 54 Linden Street.
Placed on file.
Received petition from Malden and Melrose Gas Light Co. to
install 6" gas main in John Carver Road from Puritan Road to
Hartshorn Street.
Petition approved and location plan signed.
Voted to close office on Saturday morning, May 31, 1947.
Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on proposed storm drain and sewer
taking off Prescott St. to Nichols Road through lands of Simms,
Corke, Batting and Willis.

Voted to make taking and to sign easement after description
is amended.
Received letter from Albert Wright, 123 High St. , register-
ing his approval of sewer extension in High Street.
Received letter from Ellen M. Peterson, 7 Wood End Lane,
complaining of drainage conditions in the section near her home and
also complaining of the lack of sewers in Wood End Lane and Cape
Cod Avenue.
Voted to write that work will be done as funds become avail-
able.
Voted to purchase a small power mower to cost between $150.00
and $200.00.
Hearing at 8:30 P.M' on proposed sewer in Elliott Street
from present dead end near Chapin Avenue northerly towards Haven
Street approximately 95 ft. (Refer to Plan A-2-74)

from present end opposite No. 85 northerly approximately 80 feet

Postponed hearing until Mr. Hailey files lot layout plan
with Board.
Voted to install sewers in Boyce St. , High St. , Lowell St. ,
F and Elliott St. as per proposed extensions at hearings May 12 and
May 26, 1947.
Following Granite Curb Application received, approved, and
placed on file:
Harold Weston 69 Locust Street
It was moved, seconded, and voted. to purchase a tractor
with front end bucket from Sandberg Equipment Co. , as per the bid
submitted by them on April 28, 1947.
It was moved and seconded to purchase a trailer from the
Sandberg Equipment Co. , as per the bid submitted by them on
April 28, 1947.
Motion did not carry.

Willow St. - Pole 101/21 moved 24' southerly
George St - Curtis St. - John Carver Road and Cape
Cod Avenue - all locations changed from private way
to public way locations .
Main St. - Pole 54/19 moved 17' southerly
Signed easement for public utilities in location of Boyce
(Private) Street.
Board adfourned at 11:15 P.M.
