Records of previous meeting read and approved as corrected. Received bids at 7:30 P.M. on a Pneumatic Tired Tractor with front end bucket loader. Following is a list of bids received: Hedge & Matheis Co. - Scoopmobile Model "A" - $3,300.00 Hedge & Matheis Co. - Scoopmobile Model "B" - $4,240.00 H.F. Davis Tractor Co. - Oliver Model 80 Tractor with Lull Model 4-B Bucket $31781.89 Clark-Wilcox Co. - Hough Payloader - Model HL-A 15,700.00 Sandberg Equipment Co. - Minneapolis Molure Model U T I with Haynes Bucket $4,247.00 It was moved, seconded and voted to accept the above bids . Received bids at 8:00 P.M. on a Pneumatic Tired Low Bed Trailer. Following is a list of bids received: Warren McCarthy Co. - Used LaCrosse Trailer - $3,000.00 Sandberg Equipment Co. - New Model DF 6-32 LaCrosse Trailer $3,700.00 Hedge & Matheis - A-20 - L Rogers Tagalong Trailer $2,110.00 Hedge & Matheis - H-25 - L Rogers Full Trailer 4,430.20 It was moved, seconded, and voted to accept the above bids. It was moved, seconded, and voted to instruct the Superintendent to prepare a list of the bids received on both the Trailer and the Tractor showing comparative details. The following employees were recommended by the Superintendent for promotion from temporary classification to provisional permanent classification: Thomas Fallon William Faulkner John Lyman Edward McIntire George White (County Rd.) It was moved, seconded, and voted to lay the recommendation on the table. s Received letter from Mr. Edward Brophy in which he submits i his resignation as a member of the Board of Public Works. L It was moved, seconded, and voted to accept the resignation with regrets. The name of William Webb, 55 Forest Street, was placed in 'nomination to succeed Mr. Brophy. It was moved, seconded, and voted to elect Mr. William Webb as a member of the Board of Public Works to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mr. Edward Brophy. It was moved, seconded, and voted to consider the election of a Board Chairman at the meeting of May 12, 1947. Received petition from the Royal Ambassadors Baseball Team requesting permission to play baseball on Washington Street Park on the afternoons of May 3, 1947, and May 17, 1947. Permission granted. Received letter from Goodall-Sanford, Inc. , requesting permission to play baseball on Washington Street Park on Saturday afternoons during the coming season. Permission granted except on May 3 and May 17, 1947. Letter received from Walter C. Johnson, 431 South Street, thanking Board for replacing 1j" water main in part of South Street with a 6" main. It was moved, seconded, and voted to appoint Mr. Harold Abbott a provisional foreman in the Highway Division at a salary of $55.18 per week. Appointment is to be reconsidered in the late fall of 1947. Mr. Franklin Bryant, 65-67 Lowell Street, conferred with Board relative to possibility of early installation of sewer in Lowell St. from Middlesex Avenue to his home. Board adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
