Reading, Mass. , April 15, 1947
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
P j
7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Lindsay, Putnam, Smith, and Superintendent Welch
were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Mr. Lindsay acted as chairman.
Received letter from Mrs. S. E. Comey requesting that the
Board reconsider salary increase granted to her and requesting
increase be larger. Voted to reply that Board does not feel that
any further increase can be granted.
Voted to approve the following Gas Main Locations:
Plymouth Rd. - from Lowell St. to R.R.
Washington St. - from Main Street to Village St. j
Voted to abate $5.00 on April, 1947, water bill of Francis 1
Emmons, 327 Lowell Street.
Messrs . John Walsh of C.Y.O. Baseball Team, John Cullinane
of Town Team and John Widell of American Legion Team conferred with
Board relative to Sunday Baseball dates. The re

dates between themselves.
Following Granolithic Sidewalk Applications received, approved
and placed on file:

Following Granite Curb Applications received, approved, and
placed on file:

Voted to advertise for bids on a pneumatic tired tractor
with front end bucket and on a pneumatic tired large sized trailer.
Bids to be received on April 28, 1947•
Received petition from several abuttors on Curtis Street
and George Street requesting that the construction of these streets
be deferred.
Voted not to construct streets in 1947.
Received letter from State Auditors stating that they will
make an audit of the Water Department on or about July 1, 1947.
Received letter of thanks from the Antiquarian Society for
the assistance given to them by the Department on April 12, 1947.
Voted following pole locations:
Charles St. - Pole 13/43 moved 14' northeasterly
Longfellow Rd. - Poles 188/9 - 188/10 - 188/11 changed
from T. of R. to J.O.
High Street - Pole #6 to be moved 24' southeasterly
.Voted to increase sewer frontage assessment from seventy
cents ($0.70) to one dollar ($1.00) per lineal foot with the
provision that this increase applies only to applications received
on and after April 16, 1947.
Signed Orders of Taking for George St. and Curtis St.
Street Betterment Construction.
Board adjourned at 9:15 P.M.
