HomeMy WebLinkAbout1939-03-24 Board of Public Works Minutes 204 \ Reading, Mass., March 24, 1939 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7 :30 P. M. ' Messrs. Davis, Putnam, Brophy, Lindsay and J. T. rutnam were present. Records of previous meeting readandapproved, Mrs. Annie Menovitch, 1 High St., appeared, before Board to complain regarding a storm drain thru her property, which she alleges damages her back yard. Investigation to be made and reported back to Board at neat meeting, George T. Lewis requests permission to c onnect a catch basin in his yard with new storm drain onWillowSt. Board authorized con- nection after regular release from damages in secured, Mr. Lewis to do all work in relation to the cornectldn himself, trench across sidewalk not to be open overnight. Mr, Lewis also requested filling from Lowell St. be placed on locus of proposed extension of Cape Cod Avenue near Lowell St. It was the opinion of the Board that no filling for such a purpose will be available for some time, Mr. Teener of 6chool Committee appeared before Board re- garding the controversy over Pearl St, sewer grades. Action deferred until Supt. Welch returns. Three members of the Board were appointed to serve on the Special Drainage Committee authorized at the Town Meeting March 29, 1939, the members being Messrs. Davis, rutnam, and Brophy. Board notified that Dr. Connolly will represent 'finance Committee on special committee. , 205 ' Board notified that Mr, Philip White will represent Planning Board on special committee.
