The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at '
7:30 P. M.
Messrs. Bancroft, Putnam, Brophy, Davis,Lindsay and Superin-
tendent Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Letter received from Finance Committee in regard articles
for Special Town Meeting of November 1$,1937. All articles sponsored
by this Board approved by Finance Committe..
Pole location permits granted to Municipal Light Dept. on
Chute Street and John Street.
Mr. Edward Emerson appeared in regard driveways for gas
station at South-east corner of Lincoln St. and Prescott Street.
Plans submitted. Plans approved with changes noted.
Board adjourned at 10:00 P. M.

REPORT OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC 'WORKS ON THE LAYING OUT OF
SYLVAN ROAD
The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading having de-
termined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require the
laying out of a town wny under the provisions of law autliorizinE; the as-
sessment of betterments, substantially Snthe location hereinafter de-
scribed, having complied with all requirements of law relating to notice
to the owners of land thereof and of a he=xing thereon, and having met
at the time and place appointed for such hearing and then and there heard
all persons present who desired to be heard, have laid out as a Town way
for the use of the Town, running Easterly frorm a. private way known as
` Pine Ridge Road to Its intersection with a. private way known as Oak Ridge
Road, substantially as and in the location of the private way known as
Sylvan Road, the boundaries and measurements of said way as so laid out
are as follows:
Beginning at a stone bound at a point of curve on the
Easterly aide line of said Pine Ridge Road said stone bound being S.50-
531-40"w., a distance of 613.36 feet from a point of tangent on the said
Easterly line of Pine ;ridge Road at its intersection with Oak Street;
Thence by a curve in a Southeasterly direction, hfiiving
a radius of 20.00 feet, by lands of John A. Spurr and Frances P. Spurr,
a length of 31.42 feet to a point of tan;;ent;
Thence 5.840-061-20"E. , by lands of said Spurr &ux and
lands of Allan H. Sturges, a distance of 160.00 feet to a point of curve;
Thence by a. curve to the Left, havin€ a radius of 20.00
feet, still by lands of said Sturges, a. length of 31.42 feet to a point

lands of Colonial Development Company, a distance of 180.00 feet to a, point
on the said Easterly side line of said Pine Ridge Road;
Thence N.50-531-40"E. , along the said Easterly side line of
said Pine Ridge Road, a distance of 60.00 feet to the stone bound marking
the point of beginning.)
The above described lines being more fully shown on a plan
entitled "Sylvan Road, Reading, Plass.", made under date of November, 1937,
Board of Public works, Philip 'Welch, Superintendent, said Plan being a past
of this description.
We determine that no damages will be sustained by any person or
persons in their property by reason of the taLking to be made for this im-
provement. All acts in connection with said laying out are done under the
provision of law authorizin•; the assessment of betterments, and betterments
are to be assessed therefor.
4 This laying out so made by us we hereby report to the Town for
` acceptance and recommend that said way shall thereafter be known rs a public
town way and named Sylvan Road, and that tP_e sum of forty-nine ( 849.00)
doll,rs be appropriated from the unexpended balance of the Chapin Avenue
Betterment Account for the laying out and the construction of said way, and
transferred to the Sylvan Road Betterment Account, ,and that the Town Ac-
countant be and he hereby is authorized and instructed to transfer said sum
to said account.

stone bound set at the westerly terminus of said curve in said Oak Street;
Thence, by a curve in a Southwesterly direction, having a
radius of 21.09 feet, by lands of Allen H. Sturges, a length of 40.89 feet to
a point of tangent;

of Attilio D. Daddario, other lands of said Sturges, and lands of Alfred
Johnson and Eleanor Johnson, and A. Bruce Sturges and Virginia. V. Sturges, a
distance of 812.70 feet to a point;

40.00 feet to a point;

The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading having determined

ments substantially in the location hereinafter described, having complied

Southerly from Oak Street, substantially as and in the location of the
private way known as Pine Ridge Road, the boundaries and measurements of

Beginning at a point of curve on the Southerly side line of
said Oak Street, said point being S.610-300-20"E., a distance of 47.23
feet measured aloof; the said southerly side line of Oak Street, from
a stone bound set at a point of curve having a radius of 275.46 feet
In said Oak Street.
Thence by a curve to the Right, having a radius of 20.0 feet,
by land of Kenneth R. Johnson and Ann R. Johnson, a length of 23.53
feet to a stone bound marking a point of tanL,-ent;
Thence S.50-53'-40nW. , by lands of said Johnson &ux, William
R. Dresser, Allem H. Sturges, W. Franklin Burnham Jr. and Natalie
Burnham, Alice A. Lowe, Hubert B. Titcomb and Louise Titcomb, and other
lands of said Stur _es, a distance of '70 . .66 feet to a point;
Thence turning and running S.840-00-2001% , by land of said
Sturges, a. distance of 40.0 feet to a point;
Thence turning and running 11-50-531-40"F., across the
Westerly extremity of a private way known as Sylvan Road, and lands
of John A. Spurr and Frances P. Spurr, Colonial Development Company,
Benjamin C. Bowen and Jean Gillespie Bowen, Frank F. Knight and

and Katharine C. 4lorberg, a distance of 673.36 feet to a stone
bound marking a point of curve;
Thence by a curve to the Rigdut, having a radius of 20.0
!� feet, by land of said Norberg &ux, a length of 39.30 feet to a stone
bound situate on the southerly side line of said Oak Street;
Thence N.610-301-20"W., along the said Southerly side line
of said Oak Street, a distance of 86.66 feet to the point of be,-in-
ning.
The above described lines being more fully shown on a Plan
entitled "PINE RIDGE ROAD, READING, MASS.", made under date of Tlov-
ember, 1937, Board of Public !'forks, Philip Welch, Supt.; said Plan
being a past of this description.
4e determine that no damages will be sustainedby any person

dollars be appropriated from the unexpended balance of the Chapin Avenue
Betterment Account for the laying out and the construction of s=:id wry, and
transferred to the Pine Ridge Road Betterment Account, and that the Town
Accountant be and he hereby is autinorized and instructed to transfer said
sum to said account.
