The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened
at 7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Bancroft, Putnam, Brophy, Lindsay, Davis and
Superintendent Welch were present. -
Members of the Golf Club Corp, met with the Boardio discuss
means to use the Golf Club right of way to Ordway property.

All present objected to the development of the present
right of way and hoped the Town would not operate a gravel pit close
' to the playing sections of the Golf Club.
A hearing was held on the widening at the corner of Kingston
and Mt.Vernon Sts. Mr.& Mrs. Robert Hodson who own the land to be
taken, appeared in favor and signed Waiver of Claim for Damages.
Board voted to make the taking and recommend to the Town.
Eugene McGee of Gould St. , called to complain about con-
ditions around the block at the corner of Gould and Haven Sts. He
stated that people living in this block threw rubbish into the street,
and the street is not kept clean. - .
Voted to keep the street clean and make an official complaint
to the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Health.
Mr. Charles Simpson of Grove St. called to see if the Board
would fix the bank near his house. Board agreed to do it.
Approval of the purchase of sheeting for Ash St. Water job
was granted.
Voted to have the Superintendent make arrangements to have
D. Michelini transferred if possible, and Harry Smith be employed � .
as foreman to finish the ,job.
Letter received from the Wakefield Trust Co. , giving terms
of sale for the so-called Barryts Garage on South Hain Street.
The following applications were received for granolithic
sidewalks.

Voted to have applications take regular course.
The matter of purchasing a pump to assist in the heating
of the control room at the filter plant was laid on the table.
Walter Fowler called to see the Board about a site for the
Municipal Garage. He proposed the Symonds property to be used with ,
the Sweetser property. Price of Symonds property to be $5,000.00
Voted to advise the Finance Committee that-all their -
recommendations will be accepted and recommended at Town Meeting.
Voted to put into effect as of April 1st, the following
sewer rentals;-
First 3,000 Cu. Ft. @ .23¢ per 100 Cu. Ft.

REPORT OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ON THE RELOCATION OF ALTERATION
OF THE CORNER OF MT. VERNON STREET AND KINGSTON STREET
The Board of Public Worksofthe Town of Reading, having
determined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity
require that the public highways be laid out, relocated or altered
as and in the location hereinafter described, having complied with
all requirements of law relating to notice to owners of land thereof,
and of a hearing thereon, and having met at the time and place
appointed for such hearing, and then and there heard all persons
present who desired to be heard, have laid out, relocated or altered
as public highways for the use of the Town, the corner of Mt. Vernon
Street and Kingston Street. The boundaries and measurements of said
public highways as so laid out, relocated or altered are as follows:
Beginning at a point on the northerly side line of Mt.
Vernon Street, said point being N. 820-311 -30"E., a distance
of 31.76 feet from a spike set at an angle in said street and
by land of Clara M. Hodson:
From thence the area to be taken runs Northeasterly by a
curved line on a radius of 30.00 feet, a length of 45.09 feet
through land of the said Clara M. Hodson to a point of tangent
on the westerly side line of said Kingston Streets
Thence S. 30-35' -30" E. , along the present westerly side
line of said Kin"ton Street, a tangent distance of 28.03 feet
to the point of intersection of the said westerly lineof
Kingston Street and the northerly line of said Mt. Vernon St.,
Thence S. 820-311 -30" W. , along the northerly side lineof
said Mt. Vernon Street a tangent distance of 28.03 feet to the
point of beginning '

The approximate area taken is one hundred sixty-five (165)
square feet;
The above described lines being more fully shown on a
Plan entitled, " Proposed Widening of Mt. Vernon and Kingston
Streets, Reading, Mass. "February 1937, Board of Public Works,
Philip Welch, Superintendent, said plan being a part of this
description.
CORNER MT. VERNON STREET AND KINGSTON STREET
We determine that no damaged will be sustained by any
person or parsons in their property by reason of the taking to be made
for this improvement.
No betterments are to be assessed for this improvement;
This laying out, relocation or alteration so made by us,
we hereby report to the Town for acceptance and recommend that when
this report is accepted and adopted by the Town, that said public
highways whall therefore be laid out, relocated or altered in accord- '
ante with said plan.
