' The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Bancroft, Putnam, Davis, Lindsay, Brophy and
Superintendent Welch were present.
Bir. Neiss, W. P. A. foreman called to complain of treatment
by Superintendent. He gave an account of his treatment and the
Superintendent stated his side of the case. Board voted to uphold
the Superintendent in his action.
A hearing was held on the laying out of Waverly Road by
the Board of Public Works.
Mr. Eastman appeared in favor. No one appeared in opposit-
ion.
Voted to lay out Waverly Road and recommend acceptance to
the Town meeting.
Mr. Emanuelson of Grant St. , asked the Board to truck cinders
to this street to repair the road surface. He was advised that nothing
could be done on a private way and it was suggested that the abutters
apply for acceptance.
Mr. Doucette and Mr. Munroe of Stoneham explained the method
of ash and rubbish collection used in Stoneham.
Voted to reconsider the vote of February 5th relative to a
separate account for New Machinery and voted to insert a separate
article for New Machinery in Town Warrant.
Voted to approve pole locations as requested by Municipal
' Light Department on Winthrop Ave. , Tower Road, Hartshorn St. ,and
Main Street.
Board adjourned at 11:00 P.M.

REPORT OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ON THE LAYING OUT
OF WAVERLY ROAD
The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading having
determined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity
require the laying out of a town way under the provisions of law
authorizing the assessment of betterments, substantially,in the
location hereinafter described, having complied with all require-
ments of law relating to notice to the owners of land thereof and
of a hearing thereon, and having met at the time and place appointed
for such hearing and then and there heard all persons present Veno ,
desired to be heard, have laid out as a town way for the use of the
town, running northerly from a town way now known as Ridge Road, to
another town way now known as Hillside Road, substantially as and
in the location of the private way known as Waverly Road, the
boundaries and measurements of said way as so laid out are as follows:
The easterly line of said Waverly Road commences
at a point of intersection with thenortherly line of
said Ridge Road, said point being S.850-281 -1Q"W., a
distance of 255.00 feet from the westerly line of Main
Street measured along the said northerly line of Ridge
Road:
From thence the said Easterly line runs N-40-31t -50"
W. , a distance of 20.00 feet to a stone bound:
Thence on same course by land of Malcolm E. and Eliz-
abeth M. Forbes, and byland of William H. and Goldia
W. Hinds, a distance of 160.00 feet to a point of curve:
Thence by a curve to the right by land of the said
Hinds on a radius of 30.00 feet, a length of 31.$2 .feet
to a point of tangent on the southerly side line of said
Hillside Road and the terminus of this the said Easterly
line:

Prom thence said Waverly Road runs S. 850-281 -10" W.,
by the said southerly side line of Hillside Road a
distance of 80.00 feet to a point of curve; said point
being the start of the Westerly line of said Waverly Road:
Thence by a curve southeasterly by land of Edward and
Eva Lappin on a radius of 20.00 feet, a length of 31.42
feet to a point of tangent:
Thence S. 40-31t -50E., by land of the said Lappin and
by land of Earle A. and Doris K. Eastman, a distance of
. 130.00 feet to a drill hole in a face wall, said point
being the northerly and of a curve in the northerly line
of said Ridge Road:
Thence on some course along the tangent line of said
curve a distance of. 50.00 feet to the terminus of this
the said westerly line:
Thence N. 850-281 -10" E., a distance of 40.00 feet to
_ the point of beginning.
The above described lines being more fully shownona plan
entitled "Plan and Profile of Waverly Road, Reading,Mass."made under
date of January, 1937 by Davis & Abbott, Civil Engineers, said plan
being a part of this description.
' We determine that no damages will be sustained by any person
or persons in their property by reason of the . taking to be made for this
improvement. All acts in connection with said laying out are done under
the provision of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and
betterments are to be assessed therefor.
This laying out so made by us we hereby report to the Town
for acceptance and recommend that said way shall thereafter be known as
a public town way and named Waverly Road, and that the a= of three
hundred nineteen (319.00) dollars be raised and appropriated for said
laying out and for the construction of said way. .
