HomeMy WebLinkAbout1936-06-05 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. June 5, 1936 ' The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Bancroft, Putnam, Davis, Lindsay, Brophy and Superintendent Welch were present. A petition for the acceptance of Lawrence Road signed by Paul L. Garrett and others was received and it was voted to hold the necessary hearing and prepare for the next Town Meeting. Voted to abate the following water bills which were advance payments: Charlotte Ebel- 20 Winter --- 1.50 Katherine Diesel -20 Thorndike St. 2.00 E.Norman Hunt Est.Ash& SO.Main St. 2000 Anna Goldberg 208 Main Street 2.00 ' A letter was received from Frank H. Powell relative to the numbering on Ash Street. Superintendent to reply. Voted to abate the water bill of Mrs. George Sawyer, 23 Forest St. $P2.10, making the bill 06.15, plus fines and shut off charges. A letter was received from Wilfred Pratt and J. A. Loring protesting the placement of advertising signs on the Common and the street poles. A notice received from the Board of Selectmen advising that the coal contract has been awarded to the Sweetser Coal Co., at $5.98 per ton for Bituminous Coal and $P10.90 for stove coal. A petition received from Bessie McLane for establishing lines and grades on Laneton Clay under the Board of Survey. Voted to follow the following procedure on water bills. -2- 6/5/36 (1) Regular Billing , (2) Shut off notice after 30 days (3) Shut off water when advisable after 35 days (4) Notify owners of proposal to lien after 35 days where tenants are billed. (5) Lien after 60 days. Renumbering was voted on the following streets: Hopkins Strut Hunt Street Ids Street Indiana Avenue Intervale Terrace Jadem Terrace John Street Knollwood Road Lakeview Avenue Lee Street Larch Lane Lewis Street Linden Street Board adjourned at 10:30 P.M.
