The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened
at 7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Bancroft, Putnam, Davis, Lindsay and Superintendent
Welch were present.
A request was received from Mr. Althoff for the transfer
and use of the bleachers at Junior High School grounds. Voted to
advise him that we are without funds for this purpose.
A letter received from H. A. Bailey callign attention to
the condition of the streets off Salem St. Matter referred to the
Superintendent.
An app;ication received and placed on file for a grano-
lithic sidewalk at 49 Derring St. signed by Walter S. and Louis E.
Emerson.
Abatements were voted on water bills as follows:
Miss Susette Berry, 23 Pearl St. ,Abatement $1.00 Final bill $7.60
It E.A.Curtis 73 " n it 1.05 " " 3.00
Mrs. E.C.Clancy No. Main St. It 1.00
A hearing was held at 8:00 P.M. by the Board of Survey on
a change in grade on Willow St. near the Railroad Crossing.

of tracks should be levelled off from tracks.

Mr. Lewis wishes to have level of his property raised to

proposed street grade for a distance 30 ft, back from front property
line.
Voted to change the grade as now shown on plan to provide
a level grade for approximately 100 feet from Railroad and to lay
the matter on the table until such time as the Selectmen are ready
to proceed.
Selectmen to be informed as to proceedings at hearing.
A hearing was held at 9:00 P.M. on the petition of the
Municipal Light Dept. for an underground installation on No, Main
Street in accordance with the plan submitted. There were no
objections and Mr. Sias, Manager of the tight Department explained
the reason for the application. Provision for replacing the side-
walk was added to the petition and grant. Board voted to grant the
petition and issue the grant. ,
Board signed Orders of Taking for easements in Priscilla,
Puritan and John Carver Rds, for the purpose of installing and
maintaining water mains.
Board approved change in lines and grade under the Board
of Survey on Priscilla, John Carver and Puritan Rds.
Board voted to request the Selectmen for $1500,00 to repair
water trenches where work wqs done under W. P. A.
Board voted to meet during the summer on every other
Friday, starting June 26th.
Board voyed to change the street numbering on the
following streets:
Chapin Avenue Dustin Road
Charles Street Echo Avenue '
Chute Street Ellis Avenue
Colburn Road Elm Street
