The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened '
at 7:30 P.M.
Messrs. Bancroft, Putnam, Davis, Lindsay and Superintendent
Welch were present.
Board voted to abate the water bill of Mrs. Mermet Dykens,
Winthrop Ave, for the amount of $.50 Corrected bill t6.70
Voted to abate the water bill of Neil Mills ,2Wilson St.
for the amount of 01.00 Corrected bill $4.45
A letter. received from Weston & Sampson accepting our terms
for a contract to test water and inspect filter plant, a copy of which
is attached.

Gentlemen:
The Board of Public Works has voted to accept one
of the offers made by youin your letter to them of April 29,
with one change. We would propose that you furnish the fol-
lowing services in connection with the operation of our def-
errization plant.
(1) Make quaterly inspections, with determinations
of dissolved oxygen and carbon dioxide at the
plant, and of iron, manganese and pH value at
your laboratory of samples collected at the
following points;
( a) Well water
(b) Aerator effluent
(c) Trickler effluent
(d) Filter influent
( e) Filter effluent
(f). Tap in pumping station
' (2) Make monthly determinations of color, turbid-
ity, iron, manganese, carbon dioxide and pH
value in samples of water collected and sent
you.

(3) Make such bacterialogical tests as are necessary
to ensure a contiouous pure supply.
(4) Advise us as necessary and required, regarding
the operation of the plant, making extra in-
spections during the first three months of
operation.
(5) Prepare an annual report, using your standard
form, based upon pperation data collected by
us and upon results of inspectionsandanalyses
by you.
If this arrangement is satisfactory to you for the fee of
$200.00 for the first three months and $25,00 per month thereafter,
pleas3communicatd to this office your acceptance.

Dear Sir;
We have your letter of May 5th accepting our proposition
of April 29th for professional serviced as modified in your letter.
This modification consists of the addition of such
bacteriological tests as are necessary.
While we expect that bacteriological tests will show that
the water before and after treatment is of highsanitary quality,
we will be'Pleased to make such tests as are necessary from tire
to time to demonstrate this fact.
We, are ,therefore, pleased to accept the arrangement as
modified.

Mr. M. F. Charles appeared before the Board to complain of
the condition of the sidewalk on Haven Street infront of Adam' s Store,
stating that the Joints were becoming dangerous.
Mr. Sandywell of Arborway appeared before the Board to request
that his house be given a number on Vine Street. Superintendent to
investigate and assign a number if possible.

An application receivedfrom Mr. Spellman £ or the use of
Washington Street Park for football during the fall season, He is
to be advised to apply later when the condition of the field will be
more certain.
Mr. Douglas and Mr. Gillespie of Hopkins St, called to ask
that the drainage in this vicinity be corrected. They are to seek an
easement for a culvert. -
A Hearing was held, lines ane grade, on Cape Cod Ave, under
the Board of Survey. Messrs. Collidge, Lewis, Emery and Tanner
appeared. No one objected.
Plan to be approved upon receipt of proper. easements.
Hearings were held for revision of lines and grades on John
Carver,Puritan and Priscilla Roads. Mr, and Mrs. Albert J. LaFrise,
John Dow, Joseph Gauthier and Mr. Wing appeared. There were no
objections.
Action deferred until proper releases are obtained.
Mr. Lindsay was appointed to serve on a committee to super-
vise the W. P. A. recreation project.
The Superintendent was authorized to purchase a pump for the
Water Department If a suitable one is available. Cost to be approximately
$125.00
Voted to purchase a Sterling Truck, Model H.C. 100 at a net
cost of $4,331.00 and a trade in allowance of $600.00 for the old
truck.
Voted to purchase a Model B. G. Cletrac Tractor and Trail-
builder from H. F. Davis Co, at $2,177.50 and $1150.00 respectively.
Voted to renumber the following streets in accordance with
the list as submitted:
Barrows Road
Bay State Road
Beacon St.
