HomeMy WebLinkAbout1936-04-17 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass, April 17,1936 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P. M. Messrs.Bancroft, Putnam, Lindsay, Davis, Brophy and Superintendent Welch were present. An Eas=ment for a water pipe and Order of Taking in Lawrence Road was signed by the Board. An application received and placed on file for a grano- lithic sidewalk in front of the property at 215 Summer Ave. Board voted to advertise for bids on a tractor to be taken May lst. -Board voted to sup rvise the work at the Junior High School as requested by the Superintendent of Schools in his letter of April 16th, also to construct approximately 80ft. of Storm Drain on linden St. Petition for sidewalk improvement on Haven St. east of Main, signed by A. E. DeMerrltt and others. Voted to notify them that the Boardsuggestsan application under the Betterment Act, Mr. Granger, 0arroll appeared before the Board again relative to the drainage near his property on Haverhill St. The matter is to be investigated further. Mr. & Mrs. Henry F. Johnson of #2 Pennsylvania .Ave. appeared before the Board to request that certain improvements be made to the culvert running under Pennsylvania Ave. The matter is to be investigated by the Superintendent. -2- 4/17/36 Messrs. Gillespi, Douglass and Brooks appeared before the Board relative to the condition of Hopkins St. where W. P. A. Farm to Market work is being done, also about the parking nilsance around the - new standpipe. The matter was explained to them and corrective _ measures are to be taken. Voted to advertise for hearing at Mr. Lewis' expense for approval of Cape Cod Ave. plan under Board of Survey. Voted to advertise for Strout & Wing for hearings on May 8th Voted to lay 80ft. of pipe on land of Sargent Grove St. providing he will sign necessary easement. Voted to correct the drainage conditions at the Russell - property on Grove -Street. . Voted to change the street numbering in accordance with the 1 plan to take effect on May 1st on the following streets: Hartshorn St. Arlington St. - Elliott St. Kingston St. Gould St. Harriman Ave. Deering St. Hillside Road.
