HomeMy WebLinkAbout1936-04-10 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. April 10,1936 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Bancroft, Putnam, Lindsay, Davis, Brophy and Superintendent Welch were present. Mr. Granger Carroll called on the Board and requested that certain drainage be made on Haverhill St, to release a bad condition near and on his property. George Lewis appeared before the Board to present a plan of Cape Cod Ave, so called, for approval under the board of Survey. Petition received from the Municipal Light Dept, and New Eng.Tel.& Tel. Co. and a permit granted for a pole location on Pleasant St. Westerly from Eaton St. Application received and placed on file for granolithic sidewalks at 26 Glen Road and 16 Virginia Road. It was voted to abate the amount of #3.00 on the water bill of Nellie Beaton, 6 Grove St. It was voted to advertise for a 312 to 5 Ton Truck, bids to be opende at 7:45 P.M. April 24th. It was voted to purchase a 2 yd. 8 gauge body to mount on the new Chevrolet/ Truck, same to be purchased;Ylom the New England Body Co. Voted to purchase water fittings from Walworth Mfg. Co. at a cost of #153.41 -2- 4/10/36 It was voted to change the regulations relative to connecting cellar drains with the storm drainage system as follows: No back water valve will be required in private drain con- nections when the elevation of the drain outlet at the property is more than 12" aoove the elevation of the street at the point where the connection is made to the common drain. Voted to request the Selectmen to appropraite $1400.00 for the constructionof a drain on Summer Ave. under the P. W. A. drainage project. Board adjourned at 10:45 P.M.
