HomeMy WebLinkAbout1936-03-13 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. March 13,1936 1 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:39 P. M. Messrs. Bancroft, Putnam, Davis, Brophy, Lindsay and Superintendent. Welch were present. A check for $16,2$0.00 was received from Federal Admin- stration as first payment on the new Filter System,Plant. A letter is to be sent to Mr. �teinhour to inform him relative to the apportionment of Betterment Assessments. Moved and seconded that the Municipal Year Book be pur- chased. So voted. An application for permission to enter a cellar drain into the Town drainage system received from Mr. Webster, Kingston St., Moved that permission be granted provided Mr. Webster will sign the necessary releases. It was so voted. The complaint of Mr. Dagdigian relative to surface water conditions on Hopkins St., was dismissed and the Superintendent was instructed to report as to conditions and recommendations to be made later. Upon recommendation of the Superintendent it was moved and seconded that $1,000.00 be appropriated to be used with $2,000.00 from the State and County for the maintenance of all Chapter 90 't roads in the Town. Moved and seconded that the Superintendent be authorized to purchase such raincoats, hats and rubber boots as appears to be necessary for Department employees. So voted. The Chairman appointed Mr. Lindsay to check the bills on Thursday evenings previous to the obtaining of signatures of Board members. A letter was received from the F. E. R. Adminstration authorizing the approval of the Atlantic Roofing & Skylight Works as a sub-contractor on the Filter Plant. Acknowledgement by the F. E. R. Adminstration of a request for information on an application for an additional grant for construction of the 'Filter Plant. Mr. Felix Arsenault appeared before the Board to request work. He was advised to keep in touch with the Superintendent. Mr. Dagdigian appeared to protest against the drainage conditions at his porperty. Board adjourned at 11:1$ P.M.
