The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened
at 7-30 P. M.
Messrs. Putnam, Fowls, Crooker, Barnes, Bancroft and
Superintendent Welch were present.
Board of Public Works requ=sted to be .present at a meeting
of the Finance Committee on Wednesdat evening, January 22,
Board of Public Works requested to get its annual report in
to the hands of the printer befire January 27.
Alden Goldsmithts request for abatement of water bill
because of dirty water, reduction of $2.00, was granted in accordance
with Superintendent' s recommendation.
H.Sargent of Bond Street complained of rusty water and
Board voted to redu6e the bill from 015.25 to $13,25 in accordance
with the recommendation of the Superintendent.
B. Maude Flagg, 33 vine St, was given a reduction in her
water bill from $11,40 to $8 .40 because of dirty water. Recommended
by Superintendent.
Communication was sent to the Welfare Department outlining
the system whereby the Board of Public Works can hire present welfare
recipients as town employees.
_ Mr. Bent appeared to request information in the water of
salary restoration in this department.
A letter was received from S. H. Davis, relative to the
request of Mr. W. E. Steinhour of Harold Ave, that his assessment for
street betterment be abated. The Board agreed to see Mr. Steinhour
on Friday evening February 7,1936.

Board of Public Works voted unanimously to increase the
salary of the Superintendent to tu3500.00 per year, subject to the '
existing percentage cut. This vote to be retroactive to January
1, 1936.
Board voted unanimously to reduce the water rates in
accordance with the following schedule to become effective on the
bills issued July 1, 1936.
First 3000 cu.£t. 33 1/3Q with a minimum charfe of #3.00
for a six months period in advance.
Next 3000 cu, ft. 30per 100 cu. ft.
it4000 " " 25d " " "
" 10000 " " 20V "
" 10000 " " 15V "
All over 30,000 cu. ft. at the rate of 12Q per 100 cu, ft.
The present schedule is -as follows:
First 800 cu.ft. minimum charge $3.00 in advance
All water used in excess as follows: ,
First 4000 cu, ft. 35¢ per 100 cu. ft.
Next 4000 " " 30¢ " It
Next 4000 " " 25d " It
Next 10000 " " 20� " It
All in excess of 22,800 cu. ft, at the rate of 15� per
100 cu. ft. . .
Board instructed the Sup=rintendent to repair, bring up to
grade, and surface Hancock Street Extension in the Spring.
Board adjourned at 10:3.) P. M.
