HomeMy WebLinkAbout1935-11-01 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , November 1, 1935. The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened , at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Putnam, Fowle, Barnes , Crocker, Bancroft and Superintendent Welch were present. Board voted to accept, maintain and remove snow from such sidewalks as the State Public Works Department may build in this town. Board voted that inasmuch as the P. W. Administration does not accept the Board's recommendation of Turbine Equipment Co. , the Board recommends that Rideout, Chandler and Joyce be awarded the pumping equipment contract. Board voted to adopt an order for removal of 19 poles on Middlesex Ave. and 5 poles on Temple St. A hearing on street renumbering was held with representa- tives from the Municipal Light Dept. , Mr. Arthur Sias ; Board of Assessors, Mr. George Horrocks; N. E. Tel. & Tel. , Mr. Atherton Lovering, Jr. ; Malden & Melrose Gas Co. , Mr. Charles S. Beaudry; for the purpose of setting the most convenient date for making the change over. Jan. 1, 1936 was set for the change. The following wish corrected street lists : Assessors , Malden & Melrose Gas Co. , Municipal Light Dept. , New Eng. Tel. & Tel. Co. , Registrars and Post Office. The Registrars will be given a voting list with corrected addresses. Mr. Gilmet of Libby Ave. appeared to request improvement in the sidewalk conditions there. Board adjourned at 10:00 P. M.
