HomeMy WebLinkAbout1935-10-25 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , October 25, 1935 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Putnam, Fowls, Barnes , Crocker, Bancroft and Superintendent Welch were present. Mr. Campbell appeared to represent the Auto Car Sales Co. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as corrected. A copy of the Superintendent's letter to the Workingmen's Cooperative Bank of Bhston regarding reimbursement for the proposed land taking at the corner of Lowell St. and Bancroft Ave. was read and filed. The matter of pole relocations at West St. was approved. A letter was received from J. A. Mueller, 9 Granite St. , Saugus, offering the Board $50.00 for the old plow attached to the Mead Morrison Tractor. Mr. Henry L. & Mrs. Margaret E. Noonan request that their sidewalk assessment be divided in four parts. Request was approved and referred to the Superintendent. Letter was received from the County Commissioners re- questing information as to the amount of allotments for road con- struction to be made to the Town of Reading. A letter was received from Mrs. Lewis Doucette of Van Norden Road regarding her water bill. Mr. Davis appeared and was asked to pass upon the legal ability of the Board to sell any part of its equipment. He ruled i L -2- October 25, 1935. that it could. He also reported a bad hole in the sidewalk on Linden St. Board voted to sell the snow plow for $50.00. A letter was received from the P. W. A. office in Boston replying to the Board's request that approval be given to the Turbine Equipment Co. 's bid. The P. W. A. office refused to approve. Board voted to request Weston & Sampson to meet with P. W. A. officials and point out to them the advantage of the Turbine Equipment Co. 's layout.
