HomeMy WebLinkAbout1935-09-13 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , September 13, 1935 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Putnam, Fowle, Barnes, Crooker, Bancroft and Superintendent Welch were present. Minutes of previous meeting were read and corrected. Mr. Arnold Clarkson appeared on behalf of the Community League to request the use of the baseball field next spring. He was advised to make a written application. A letter was received from the P. W. A. office in Boston relative to matters of correspondence in connection with architec- tural and engineering details of the water plant prosect. The Boston office was advised that this Board wishes all correspondence to go through this office. A copy of the contract sent to Weston & Sampson was read at this meeting. A letter was received from the State Public Works Dept. in regard to the proposed sidewalk work to be done by that Department in the Town of Reading. Mr. Ernest Gallant appeared to request a sidewalk in front of his premises on 28 Hanscom Ave. He was informed that the Super- intendent would look over the ground. Board voted to request the Superintendent to make an investigation into the purchasing of a new truck and to report next Friday. -2- September 13, 1935. Board voted to follow the recommendation of the Super- intendent in regard to Mr. Morris, that he be not allowed to work off his sewer bill. Board voted to write letters to Mrs. Buck, Cor. Woburn & Summer Ave. , and to Mr. Hedges, Cor. Summer Ave. & Prescott St. advising them of the traffic danger caused by their hedges. Board adjourned at 10:00 P. M.
