HomeMy WebLinkAbout1935-08-09 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , August 9, 1935. The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Crooker, Bancroft, Barnes and Superintendent Welch were present. Mr. Crocker was elected Chairman protem. Board received official notification of the granting of request of 45% gift on the Iron Removal Plant. Board approved acceptance of the P. W. A. gift on the Iron Removal Plant. Mr. Gillard of the New England Tel. & Tel. Co. appeared at a hearing in connection with pole changes at the corner of West St. & Palmer Hill Ave. Board voted approval. Mr. Davis appeared to see what were the wishes of the Board in connection with the calling of a special town meeting regarding the iron removal plant. Mr. Tanner appeared to request a concrete sidewalk around the Prospect St. School. The Board voted to install all sidewalks in front of private homes already applied for and then if necessary as an emergency project to install sidewalk around the Prospect St. School, provided thatCthe absent members concur. Board approved the recommendations of the Superintendent in regard to water users complaints. Mr. Anderson of the Gulf Co. applied for a mermit to hang a sign over the sidewalk. He was referred to the Building Inspector. Board voted to request Mr. Davis to draw up a contract with Weston & Sampson and receive the signature of that Firm. Board adjourned at 11:00 P. M.
