HomeMy WebLinkAbout1935-07-12 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , July 12, 1935 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Putnam, Fowls, Barnes, Crocker, Bancroft and Superintendent Welch were present. Board voted to submit the complaint of Mr. Steinhour concerning his highway assessment of $57.62 to the Superintendent for investigation and report. Complaint was received from Mr. Dlllaway of Perkins Ave. concerning his water bill. No action was taken. Complaint was received from Harry Johnson of Dudley St. concerning an excess water bill. Bill was reduced to $8.00 at the recommendation of the Superintendent, because of fewer persons using the water than during the period when the average bill was computed. Mr. Kenneth Sawyer complained of his water bill on the grounds that extra water was run to clear away the rust. Matter was referred to the Superintendent. Mr. Sampson appeared to confer with the Board. It was agreed that the specifications as correctbd were satisfactory and further action will be upheld until July 26. With regard to the reconstruction of the Boston & Maine R.R. bridge in Lowell St. , the Board authorized the Superintendent to confer with the Police Department in outlying a traffic detour. 1 July 12, 1935 Board authorized the Superintendent to confer with the Light Department with regard to the installation of an auxiliary power supply to the water pumping station. Board voted approval of the relocation of light poles at intersection of Washington and Main St. , also certain poles on Grove St. , also 37 poles on Franklin St. Board voted approval of six W. P. A. projects as follows: Franklin St. , Colburn Rd. , Blacksmith, Recreation, Washington St. Playground, Birch Meadow Playground. Board voted to place a "no dumping of garbage" sign on the Town Dump.
