HomeMy WebLinkAbout1935-06-28 Board of Public Works Minutes Readingt Mass. f June 28e 1935. The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Putnam, Fowle, Barnes , Crocker, Bancroft, Super- intendent Birnie and Mr. Welch were present. A communication was received from the Town Counsel, advis- ing the Board of action taken by Walter J. Anderson in the Superior Court against the Town in the matter of damages to his garage. Board voted to request an E. R. A. project for the con- struction of 6" Water Pipe in Lowell St. to the house of Mr. C. H. Roxbee. A letter was received from the Boston & Maine R. R. advis- ing of projected reconstruction of the Lowell St. bridge. A letter was sent by this Board requesting that work be delayed until after Labor Day, and that a flag man be placed at the Willow St. Crossing. Board voted to adopt orders granting permission to the N. E. Telephone & Telegraph Co. to relocate one pole in South Main St. and certain poles in Lincoln St. Board signed additional lien statements, and the amounts were committed to the Tax Collector. Mr. Bryant appeared to request additional playground equipment. Mr. Killam delivered a set of forms for the Federal Build- ing, Boston. Mr. Watts appeared to consult the Board concerning the traffic by-pass. -2- June 28, 1935 Board voted to write a letter to the Planning Board approving the idea and general plan of the layout of the by-pass around Reading and Stoneham Square. Mr. Poland appeared to consult the Board concerning the problem of supervised play on the playgrounds. It was agreed that the Board of Public Works would submit a project of its own.
