The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P. M.
Messrs. Putnam, Fowls, Barnes, Crooker, Bancroft and
Superintendent Birnie were present.
Letter received from E. R. A. notifying Board of the change
in location and telephone number.
An application for permanent sidewalk construction was re-
ceived from Lillian Sullivan, 55 Highland St. , and she was notified
of its receipt.

A letter was received from Mr. Wilson, 29 Center Ave. ,
asking for relief from a poor drainage condition existing at her house
' on Chapin Ave. She requests a pipe connection to the new highway
drain in Chapin Ave.
Superintendent submitted a schedule of street resurfacing.
Board agreed to complete all the small streets first and then take
the larger ones.
A hearing was held on the relocation of a light pole now
at the entrance to the Municipal grounds on Woburn St. No objections
were raised and the Board voted to permit relocation.
A letter was received from Wm. Kelch & Sons submitting a price
of $1.25 per hour for blasting. Harvey Kelch was told that the Depart-
ment could probably give him some work.

An insurance bill covering property damage was received
from Louis Davis and was apportioned among the several departments.
Board interviewed Mr. Hayes for position of Superintendent.

The Board consulted the Planning Board concerning the
proposed by-pass around Stoneham and Reading.
The Board held a consultation with Mr. Poland and Mr.
Bryant, E. R. A. officials, concerning the installation of swings
and see saws on the playgrounds; also in connection with the
repairing of the street in front of the town farm; also the
selection of the instructors at the playgrounds.
The Board adjourned at 12:30 A. M.
