The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened
at 7:30 P . M.
Messrs. Putnam, Fowle, Barnes , Crocker, Bancroft and
Superintendent Birnie were present.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Letter was received from Clarence E. Flint, 7 Eaton St.
requesting extension of time on his water bill on the grounds that
he at present was unable to pay, due to serious sickness. Board
voted extension to August 1.
Letter was received from Alden Goldsmith requesting
endorsement in regard to insurance on the new water construction.
Letter was sent notifying him of its receipt and that it
will be forwarded to the contractor.
Received an order of taking for relocation of Franklin St.
from the Town Counsel, Mr. Davis.
The Town Treasurer, Preston Nichols, consulted with the
Board in regard to the issuance of bond in the extent of $65,000.
Board agreed that Mr. Nichols should do nothing further about the
bonds until notice from the Board.
Mr. Totten appeared in regard to a sewer bill at his
premises in Gould St. The water went into the cellar instead of
the sewer. Mr. Totten's bill was reduced from $44. 50 to $4. 50.
Captain Eames appeared in connection with the changing
of confusing street names.
Board adjourned at 9:15 P . M.

Following the adjournment the Board reconvened with
Orville Poland, the E. R. A. administrator, in the matter of
E. R. A. projects coming under the Board of Public Works.
It was agreed that the stone retaining wall on the South side of
Washington field be at ground level and that a stone wall will
be built on the Washington St. side instead of a chain link fence.
Adjourned 10:30 P. M.
