HomeMy WebLinkAbout1935-05-24 Board of Public Works Minutes Oor Reading, Mass. , May 24, 1935• The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Putnam, Fowls, Barnes , Bancroft and Superintendent Birnie were present. The Board interviewed Mr. John F. Rand with regard to the position of Superintendent. A letter was received from Weston & Sampson with regard to the plan for the filtration plant. A petition was received from the Unitarian Community Church asking for permission to close off a part of Summer Ave. The matter was referred to the Board of Selectmen. A letter of application was received from Mr. Maggi and he was informed that the Board would see him next Friday night. Board voted to grant a request from the Junior Unity Club for permission to erect a sign on Haven St. subject to the approval of the Building Inspector. The Town Counsel appeared to consult with the Board in the matter of water bill against the estate of Charles H. Powell. Board voted to abate the bill in the amount of the delin- quency charges and allow three months to pay the balance of $5. 50 on the grounds that the town failed to give proper notification. Mr. Ellenwood appeared to complain of a water bill on the grounds that there was an increase in his water bill when the number of families using water had decreased. Board voted to have the Super- intendent make an investigation. -2- May 24, 1935. Mr. Dagdigian appeared to ask for drainage relief on his property at Main & Hopkins St. He was advised to get cooperation from some of his neighbors in securing drainage rights. The superintendent was authorized to make up preliminary forms for the application to the P. W. A. for money on the filter plant construction. Board adjourned at 9:00 P. M.
