The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened
at 7:30 P. M.
Messrs. Putnam, Fowle, Barnes, Crocker, Bancroft and Super-
intendent Birnie were present.
Mr. DeWolfe appeared to protest his water bill. The Board
voted to make his bill $4.40 on the basis of the one month the water
was measured.
A letter was received from the Board of Selectmen request-
ing police protection for the bearer of bank deposits. Board voted
to request the police department for such protection.
Board signed a list of additional water liens dated May 10,
1935.
The following persons appeared at the hearing on renumbering
of Washington St. : Mr. Newell, Mr. Riseman, Mrs . Clara Townsend,
Mrs. Maria Winchester, Mr. and Mrs . George B. Dill, Alvin G. Somes,
Mrs. Coney. John L. Devaney and those present went on record as
protesting the direction of renumbering.
Mr. Murdock appeared to protest his water bill of $3.35,
which should have been $3.20. Board voted the reduction.
Mr. Murray was interviewed by the Board for the position of
Superintendent.
Mr. Crump was interviewed by the Board for the position of
' Superintendent.
A letter was received from Mr. Chapman in connection with
renumbering Minot St.
A notification of low prices on Diamond Tires was received
from Leonard J. Nodding.
An application for permanent sidewalk construction was re-
ceived from Mrs . Christine Atkinson, 32 Washington St.
A letter was received from the Town Counsel in connection
with the changing of the names of private ways.
A letter was received from the Assistant Administrator of
the E. R. A. concerning the water construction at Longview Road and
Palmer Hill Ave.
Order of taking on the following streets were received from
the Town Counsel:
Colburn Road
Winthrop Ave.
West & Willow St.
Bancroft Ave. & Lowell St.
Grove St.
A protest against the water bill at 59 Green St. was received
from Mr. Charles J. Gorman. No action was taken.
Mr. Preston Nichols, Town Treasurer, appeared to consult with
the Board on the issuance of bonds concerning the filtration plant con-
struction. The Board approved his proposal to proceed with them.
The Board voted to repair the old lawn mower at a cost of $85.00.
The Board signed the petition to the County Commissioners for
the survey of the entire length of Pearl Street on the provision that
the petition does not entail any further action.
The Board voted to grade that portion of the border of
Washington St. playground which runs from Sweetser Ave. toward Washington
St. 1Board adjourned at 10:30 P. M.
