HomeMy WebLinkAbout1935-05-03 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , May 3, 1935. The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P . M. Messrs. Putnam, Fowle, Barnes , Crooker, Bancroft and Superintendent Birnie were present. Mr. Ralph Smith, Mr. Arthur Hopkins, Miss Bessie McLane, Mr. John R. Hall, Mrs. Hall, were present at the hearing on street renumbering. No objections were raised. Board voted to make a water pipe connection at the cor- ner of Longview Road and Palmer Hill Ave. , which will eliminate a dead end. A petition was received from Joseph Wright and others, all of Federal Street, requesting that the sidewalk on the North side of Federal Street be repaired. Board voted to make the re- pairs at a cost not exceeding $50.00. Mr. Overton was interviewed by the Board for the position of Superintendent. An application was received for permanent sidewalk con- struction from Mr. Dill and Mr. Gascoigne. However, Mr. Dill wishes to perform the labor himself. The Board could not accept the application under those conditions. Board voted to reduce Mr. DeWolfe' s water bill by 25%, inasmuch as there were 3/4's as many persons using the water as formerly believed. A statement of water liens was received from the Town Counsel and was signed by the Board. -2- May 3, 1935. +j Board voted to request the County Commissioner to J survey the northern extremity of Pearl St. from the Cemetary north. Mr. Poland and Mr. Bryant, the E. R. A. Administrator and his assistant, were asked to consult with the Board concerning the operation of recreation projects on Memorial Park.
