Reading, Mass. , March 15, 1935.
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened
at 7:30 P. M.
Messrs . Putnam, Fowle, Barnes , Crooker, Bancroft and
Superintendent Birnie were present.
Hearing on joint location of pole line on Chestnut Road
was opened. No one appeared to object and the Board voted approval.
Board voted to purchase 500 copies of new letter head.
Board voted approval on removal of pole in Ash Street
just South of intersection with Main and Haven Streets.
The remaining articles in the Warrant were reviewed for
the coming town meeting.
Mr. Davis, Town Counsel, appeared to consult with the
Board on the request of Mr. Batchelder for additional concessions
in the establishment of the new street lines in fron of his property
on Franklin. Street.
A list of additional water liens dated March 15Vh were
approved and signed by the Board.
There was some difficulty experienced in the matter of
allowing an extended vacation to the Superintendent. The problem
was temporarily laid on the table.
At this point the Board went into executive session.
Board voted to elect Mr. Birnie Superintendent for a period
of approximately 60 days up to and including May 15.
