HomeMy WebLinkAbout1934-12-14 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , Dec. 14, 1934. The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at , 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Putnam, Fairclough, Fowle, Crocker, Barnes and Superintendent Birnie were present. Hearing on Colburn Road at 7:45 P . M. There were present: Mrs. LeFave Mr. & Mrs. Johnson Mr. & Mrs . Lou Frotten Mr. Luce (rep. Mrs * Melville tt Mr. McSbeehy & Mr. Saunders & Mrs. Irvingl Mrs. Donehy Mrs . Leonard All favorable. Board voted to approve. Water in County Road: Hearing 8:00 P. M. Present: Mr. & Mrs. Steele Mrs. P. N. Sweetser Mr. Wm. Muse Mr. & Mrs. Roberts Mr. & Mrs . Geo. White Mr. DeLong Applications for the installation were passed out and are to be filled in and returned to this office on Friday evening Jan. 4th. At that time if sufficient applications are received to make a rate acceptable to the residents the installation will proceed. Mr. Ralph Smith appeared at the hearing on the construction of a sewer into his property on Hillcrest Road. Mr. Henry Johnson requested permission to erect two trees for Christmas lighting in the Square on the Common. Permission was granted. -2- Dec. 14, 1934. 1 Order of takings for laying out Chapin Ave. , relocation of Grove St. and alteration of corner of Deering and Lowell streets were signed. Board voted to withhold notification of mortgagees of liening until December 26. The Board signed the order placing liens on the property of those persons already notified. The budget was examined and discussed. John Morris appeared to collect an overpayment on his water bill amounting to fifty cents. Board decided to use old heater now in Water Department shed for heating Memorial Park barn instead of buying new one. Board voted to give department employees one-half day off before Christmas.
