HomeMy WebLinkAbout1934-11-23 Board of Public Works Minutes ' Reading, Mass. , Nov. 23, 1934. The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Putnam, Fairclough, Fowle, Barnes , Crocker and Superintendent Birnie were present. A letter received from the Finance Committee recommending Articles 5, 6 & 9. Articles 7 & 8 no recommendation. Cost of Lowell St. $499.27. Good Job quickly done. Voted to repair the intersection of Haven and Main St. with money from the balance of the Main St. Account, if there be any available. ' Board signed the certification of sidewalk assessments on Laura W. Barnes, Ralph and Lillian Smith and Gladys H. Sawyer. Board voted to relocate poles at corner of Haverhill St. and Bay State Road, and also at corner of Haverhill and Franklin St. Board agreed that hockey rink should be made of 1" board. Mr. Anderson appeared to discuss the alleged damage to his property at the corner of Main and Washington St. The Board could make no change in the agreement last arrived at. The Town Counsel, Mr. Davis , appeared to inform the Board that all the articles drawn up for the town meeting last Friday night were in proper order to be presented. -2- Reading, Mass. , Nov. 23, 1931+- A discussion of water rates was entered into and it ' was agreed that an approximate reduction of 10,% be made and for the purpose of determining how close to 10% the suggested new rate will reduce our revenue, 250 bills out of each billing for the past four billings are to be refigured. It was agreed to send out sewer bills at six month's intervals and at 30 days after the water bills are sent out. Board adjourned at 11:15 P.
