The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P. M.
Messrs. Putnam, Fairclough, Fowle, Barnes , Crocker and
Superintendent Birnie were present.
Voted to pay bill of $y183. 59 as rendered by the Municipal
Light Department for construction of sidewalk on Haven St.
Voted to grant the request of the Welfare Department for
permission to cut on certain town owned land as described in their
letter of November 14, 1934, the work to be subject to the supervision
of the superintendent or the engineer at the Pumping Station.
Voted to build an iron pipe fence and cap the wall with
cement on Hopkins Street near the Chestnut Hill School at an estimated
cost of $79.00.
Mr. and Mrs . Pears appeared at the hearing on the pole loca-
tion at the corner of Gardner Road and Pleasant Street, and had no
objection to location as shown on the plan. Board granted permission.
to locate as shown.
Mrs . Fannie C. Nichols appeared at the pole location hearing
on Van Norden Road. She had no objection. Board granted permission
for location as shown.
The Town Counsel appeared to consult with the Board concern-
ing the town warrant application of water liens and other matters .
Voted to give warning to property owners and mortgagees
prior to application of lien for non payment of water bill. Notice to
be given at expiration of shut off notice.

In regard to making a written proposition to Mr.
Anderson in remedying alleged damages to his garage the Town
Counsel advised against so doing.
Notice was received from the Finance Committee of a
meeting open to the Board of Public Works to be held Wednesday,
November 211 1934.
It was agreed to place in the town warrant an article
asking for action on the relocation of Grove Street.
An E R A project was drawn up asking for labor to shingle
the roof on the building at Memorial Park and to install a chimney.
Board voted to place in warrant an article asking for action
in the matter of relocating corners of Deering and Lowell Streets.
Voted to recommend to the town that a transfer of residues
in new highway construction accounts be made as follows:
Cedar Street and Ellis Avenue, total $71.61 to Sidewalk Account.
Van Norden Road and Third St. , total $631.60,to Park Account $400.00.
and Highway Account $231.60.
Water lien was placed on the property of Frank E. and
Mary L. McQuesten at 8 Vine St.
Board voted to lay a Type D Macadam surface on Lowell St.
from Woburn Street to Middlesex Avenue.
Voted to recommend to the town that Chapin Avenue be
accepted and constructed with funds transferred from funds available.
Voted to send a demand (shut off) notice at the end of
' thirty days after water bill is rendered to the water user, and five

days later shut water off, and twenty-five days later plan a lien.
At the thirty-five day point the name should be turned over to the
Town Counsel who will prepare for liening and within ten days from
receipt of name he will return name of owner and mortgagee. A
notice of lien will be sent to the above who will then have fifteen
days to avoid the lien.
Voted to call next meeting at 7:00 P. M.
Board adjourned at 11:40 P. M.
