The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened
at 7:30 P. M.
Messrs. Putnam, Fowle, Fairclough, Barnes, Crocker and
Superintendent Birnie were present.
A representative of Sophie Chalfen appeared relative to
the water bill at 33 Haven St. which he deemed excessive. No action
was taken.
Mrs. 0. H. Towle, 22 West St. appeared relative to the side-
walk curbing in front of her land which has been curved to accomodate
the gas station. The matter was taken under consideration.
Mr. Gillard and Mr. Sias appeared relative to telephone
and light pole locations. Board voted to approve the relocation of
pole at North West corner of Pilgrim Rd. and Lowell St. Board voted
to approve the location of 18 poles on County Road. The Board agreed
to make a relocation of the section of Grove St. running through the Golf
Club property so that the Light Department can locate its poles accord-
ing to the new location.
Mr. Kelch appeared at the hearing under the Board of Survey
in the extension of Longwood Road and the layout of Kelch Road.
The Board voted approval of the layouts.
Mr. E. L. Chamberlain appeared relative to his water bills
at 210 Main St. and location over fruit store on Main Street.

Mr. Farr and Mr. Coolidge appeared relative
to a change in
grade on County Road. The new grade was approved by both gentlemen.
Mr. Frank Tanner appeared relative to the securing of
Sweetser's field or some other suitable place for the use of the school
athletic organizations which cannot be accommodated on the Junion High
field. It was decided that the foot ball field on Washington Playground
would be available until December 15.
Mr. Dagdigian appeared relative to his sidewalk and drainage
at his premises on Main St. The Board agreed to repair the sidewalk
from Helrick's driveway up to the beginning of Dagdigian's property,
a distance of approximately 500 Ft. The Board agreed to make an inves-
tigation of the drainage conditions in that locality.
Mr. Luce, Mrs. Luce, Mr. LeFave, Mrs. LeFave, Mrs . Johnson
appeared relative to the acceptance of Colburn Road. Mr. Luce has se-
cured the signatures of all but four of the street abutters as indicating
their willingness to have the street accepted under the Betterment Act.
Mr. Davis and Mr. Sias appeared relative to the permanent side-
walk construction on Haven St. An agreement was reached with approval
of the Town Counsel.
The reading of the previous minutes was waived for this meeting.
Board voted to do nothing about Mr. Chamberlain's lesser bill.
Concerning the other bill the Board instructed the Secretary to write a
letter to Mr. Chamberlain stating that no abatement can be made unless it
can be proved that our meter or meter readings are at fault.

' Two representatives of the Elliott Fisher Co. appeared
relative to revising the bookkeeping system in the Water Department.
They recommended securing a simple cash book and posting from that to
ledger cards as revised. Sample revised ledger cards and bills will
be presented to the Board for approval.
Board voted approval of the request for layout of Colburn Rd.
Board voted to place water liens according to list as provided
by the Town Counsel.
Board received a letter from Town Counsel relative to the
catch basin on the premises of Mr. Menovitch, 1 High Street. Superin-
tendent was instructed to interview Mr. Menovitch.
' Board voted to request an extension of the construction on
West Street to use up the balance in the fund set aside for that purpose.
Board voted to reconstruct sidewalk on the east side of King-
ston St. from Middlesex .Ave. to Mt. Vernon St. , at an estimated cost
of $114.24.
Board voted approval of the taking of an easement in Pinevale
Ave for the purpose of water installation.
Board voted approval of the alteration of the corner of
Lowell and Deering Sts. as shown by plan dated September 1934.
Board voted to purchase 4 sewer location plans, similar
to those on record, in order to show sewer lines in Middlesex, Linden,
and Lowell Sts.
' Board voted to abate the water bill of Mr. DeMarchi on
Haverhill St. to $3.00.

In the matter of damages claimed by Anderson' s garage
located on Main St. arising from the lowering of the gutter line,
the Board decided to refer the problem to the Town Counsel for a
final ruling.
Board voted to loan the Town's roller to the State of
Massachusetts to be used in Woburn for a time of one or two days,
they paying for the driver's time and gas consumed.
Board voted to mark certain unlienable bills uncollectable,
and cross off the books as per list of September 25, 1934.
Board adjourned at 2:05 A. M. Saturday.
