The Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works was
called to order at 7:30 P. M.
Messrs. Putnam, Barnes , Fowle, Fairclough, Crocker and
Superintendent Birnie were present.
The letter of appreciation to the employees was read and
corrected.
A letter was received from the Board of Selectmen in
connection with State regulation of town finances .
Mr. Dagdigian of 36 Hopkins St. appeared before the Board
and requested that something be done about the water in front of his
house and also that the Board do something about constructing a side-
walk from Hopkins St. down to Hobart's Garage.
Mr. R. G. Doucette of the American Gasolene Co. appeared
before the Board relative to the drainage problem under Main St. in
front of the Gas Station.
Mr. Sias of the Municipal Light Dept. , Mr. Gillard of the
New England Telephone Co. , and Mr. Kenney, Mr. Michelini, Mr. Parker
and Mr. Richmond of the Meadow Brook Golf Club appeared relative to
installation of light and telephone service on Grove St. through the
Golf Club property. The consensus of opinion was that the matter
be laid on the table until after May 30th.
Board voted to write a letter to the Golf Club advising
them of the expense and asking them to notify us what action they
want to take.

An application was received from Mae Jackson, at al '
for the improvement of Chapin Ave. under the Betterment Act.
Mr. Thomas Classen came before the Board to ask for the
use of the Washington Street Playground for the purpose of a
Wrestling Match on
The Board signed the report on the relocation of
Franklin St.
The Board also signed warrants for the construction of
Van Norden Road and County Road to be brought before the Special
Town Meeting on March 19, 1934.
The Board signed a tracing of County Road Layout for
filing in Registry of Deeds. '
The newly determined line between Reading and Woburn as
it runs along South St. was considered.
Mr. George T. Lewis presented a petition from the residents
of Willow St. asking for a catch basin to suitably drain the South
side of Willow St.
Supplementary town warrant was considered.
The question as to where the Board will take its gravel
from in the coming year was discussed.
The Planning Board came in to consult with this Board about
streets and class of Houses.
The Board adjourned at 11:15 P. M.
